Through a JCAC funded Grassroots sub-grant, Smoky Mountain News has been releasing weekly articles highlighting talented visual artists in Jackson County.

Jackson County Junior Appalachian Musicians Program

JAM is an after-school program providing students instruction and performance opportunities in Mountain Heritage Music on traditional Appalachian instruments. Children ages 7 and up may choose lessons in Fiddle (violin), Ukulele, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo and Bass. Loaner instruments are available.

Rotunda Gallery Artist Spotlight: Raina Kranz

Step into the vibrant world of Raina Kranz, a multi-talented artist whose life’s journey weaves together
her passion for personal training, illustration, and design. Creating a life in the picturesque embrace of
the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, Raina found inspiration in her surroundings,
channeling the essence of joy, connection, and peace into her artwork.

Rotunda Gallery Artist Spotlight: Roger Stephens

The Jackson County Arts Council is thrilled to welcome the latest Rotunda Gallery Artist Roger B. Stephens.
Roger B. Stephens has been a practicing artist for over 50 years. After obtaining a BFA and Masters degree in painting and drawing at Western Carolina University, he became a professional sign artist and illustrator before accepting a faculty position in the Graphic Design curriculum at Southwestern Community College in 1990

Rotunda Gallery Artist Spotlight: Kloo Hansen

The Jackson County Arts Council is thrilled to welcome the latest Rotunda Gallery Artist Kloo Hansen.

Her “Brave Enough Florals” will be on display throughout August and September with an opening reception hosted at the Rotunda Gallery in the Jackson County Public Library on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022 from 5:30 pm-7 pm.
