Sarah Hall began giving piano lessons during her junior year in high school and has continued teaching music ever since. She earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Music Theory and Composition with an applied concentration in French horn and a Master of Arts degree in Music from Appalachian State University, then pursued post-graduate study in Music Education at University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition to public school music teaching at all grade levels, Mrs. Hall has taught for ASU, Pfeiffer University, Catawba College, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, and Western Carolina University. Most recently, she served for nine years as music teacher at Blue Ridge School and Blue Ridge Early College in Cashiers, NC, where she also established and directed Blue Ridge JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians). Mrs. Hall’s other work experience includes education director for a symphony orchestra, arts reporter for a newspaper, magazine editor, director of the Amadeus Youth Chorus of Salisbury, NC, and director of the Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society. Mrs. Hall was founder and first director of the Salisbury School of Music and served as a church music director for 25 years. Some other career highlights: An opera composed by Mrs. Hall was performed by Opera Carolina Theatre all across the state for their education tour in 1986.
