As a multi-media artist based in Cullowhee, NC, I find that my love for nature has always been a driving force in my creative works. Observing the beauty of the natural world and its intricate details, I find myself drawn to capturing the patterns and scenes in my artwork. My primary creative process involves a blend of watercolor and pen, often incorporating collage elements for added interest, depth, and texture. My travel watercolor/sketch kit enables me to paint and sketch plein air whether I am hiking a trail or people watching in an urban setting. Recently I have been exploring painting with acrylics and gouache and learning how to be looser and more impressionistic in my style. As a lifelong creative learner, I also dabble and create in a variety of mediums such as cyanotypes, linocut printing, hand-built pottery, jewelry, fiber, and photography. Currently I am not taking art commissions but welcome opportunities to collaborate on creative projects, workshops, and courses. One of my recent projects can be seen at Lazy Hiker in Sylva, “The Mountains are Calling” painted barrel in their outdoor seating area. I am also a Certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide and a retired associate instructor of Parks & Recreation Management. Currently I lead forest bathing walks, nature journaling workshops, and art hikes for National Parks & Forests, Universities, and Recreation Departments; both in person and virtually. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the simple yet remarkable wonders that surround us every day. Nature is my inspiration, and my art reflects my gratitude and appreciation for the more than human world.
